The Written Exam and the Physical Test
Bihar Police Constable recruitment is run by the Central Selection Board of Constable, the CSBC. First there is a written exam. Those who pass are called for a physical test.
The figures on this page are from the last full recruitment, Advertisement 01/2025. In it the written exam was only qualifying. The merit list was made from the 100 marks of the physical test. So start running on the day you start studying.

Full marks need a run under 5 minutes for men and under 4 minutes for women. They also need a throw past 20 feet for men and 16 feet for women, and a jump of 5 feet for men and 4 feet for women. You must pass each of the three events. Height: 165 cm for general and BC men, 160 cm for EBC, SC and ST men, 155 cm for women. A new recruitment can change these, so read the new CSBC notice.

In the last recruitment, the written exam had 100 objective questions for 100 marks, in 2 hours. It was qualifying only. The merit list came from the physical test: running for 50 marks, shot put for 25 and high jump for 25.
Does the written exam count in the Bihar Police merit list?
In the last recruitment it did not. The written exam was only qualifying, and a candidate with less than 30% failed. Merit was made from the physical test marks.
What subjects are in the Bihar Police written exam?
The paper is at Class 10 level. It has Hindi, English, Maths, Social Science, Science, and general knowledge with current affairs. There was no negative marking in the last recruitment.
How fast must I run in the Bihar Police physical test?
In the last recruitment, men had to run 1.6 km within 6 minutes and women 1 km within 5 minutes. A slower runner was out. Men got the full 50 marks for a run under 5 minutes, and women for a run under 4 minutes.
Who can apply for Bihar Police Constable?
In the last recruitment a candidate needed to have passed Class 12. The age was 18 to 25 years for the general category. The upper limit was 27 for BC and EBC men, 28 for BC and EBC women, and 30 for SC and ST. There are also height and chest standards.
