JEE rank depends on solving hard problems in limited time. About two-thirds of our class time goes to solving problems with a teacher.

Our method

How we prepare students for JEE Main and Advanced

Almost every JEE student finishes the syllabus. Rank depends on solving a new problem within the time limit. That skill comes from solving many hard problems and having a teacher check your method.

So we keep concept classes short. About two-thirds of class time goes to problem solving. Students work on the problems, and the teacher corrects the method as well as the answer.

JEE Main and JEE Advanced are different papers. Main Paper 1 has 75 questions in 3 hours, 25 in each subject. Most of them test one idea, and each wrong answer costs 1 mark. Advanced has two papers of 3 hours each. Its questions join two or three ideas, and some have more than one correct option. We prepare students for both, and tell them which paper each session is for.

Class time

How class time is used

These five things shape the JEE course at Knox.

2/3

of class time is problem solving

Students solve the problems. The teacher goes round the room and corrects the method as well as the answer.

Teachers who sat JEE themselves

Our Physics and Maths teachers come from an engineering background. They choose your practice problems from that experience.

Every mock test comes with a rank

JEE compares you with other students. So we give a batch rank with every mock test. A score of 140 is strong if the batch average is 90, and weak if it is 160.

A study hall to work in

A quiet study hall stays open outside class hours. Students use it for self-study.

Class 12 boards run alongside

Board and JEE preparation run together, and we check the board test marks too. For 2026 admission, NITs and IIITs asked for 75% in Class 12, or a place in the top 20 percentile of the board.

Syllabus

What We Teach in Physics, Chemistry and Maths

Each subject carries 100 marks in JEE Main, so we give all three equal time. JEE Advanced tests the same three subjects with harder questions.

Physics

  • Mechanics: kinematics, Newton’s laws, work energy power, rotation, gravitation
  • Thermodynamics, kinetic theory, oscillations and waves
  • Electrostatics, current electricity, magnetism, EMI and alternating current
  • Optics, modern physics, semiconductors and experimental skills

Chemistry

25 questions · 100 marks in Main
  • Physical: mole concept, thermodynamics, equilibrium, electrochemistry, kinetics, solutions
  • Inorganic: periodicity, bonding, p-, d- and f-block, coordination compounds, qualitative analysis
  • Organic: GOC, isomerism, reaction mechanisms, hydrocarbons, functional groups, biomolecules
  • Named reactions and conversion practice for the organic section

Mathematics

25 questions · 100 marks in Main
  • Algebra: quadratics, complex numbers, sequences, binomial, permutations, matrices

The JEE Main figures are from the NTA bulletin for 2026. Each subject has 20 multiple-choice questions and 5 numerical questions. All 75 questions are compulsory. A right answer gives 4 marks and a wrong answer takes away 1 mark, in both sections. JEE Main is a computer-based test. It is held in two sessions a year, in 13 languages including Hindi. JEE Advanced is also taken on a computer, in English or Hindi. Its number of questions and marks change every year. Check jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in for your exam year.

Aims

What the JEE Course Works Towards

  • A JEE Main percentile good enough for NIT and state counselling
  • Readiness for JEE Advanced, for students in the two-year batch
  • A good Class 12 board result alongside JEE preparation
  • Other options kept open: BITSAT, state engineering entrances and CUET

Advice

Three things we tell every JEE student

Solve it yourself

Watching a teacher solve a problem is different from solving it yourself. Try each problem on your own first, even if you get stuck. This is why our timetable has fewer lecture hours and more solving hours.

The one-year batch

The one-year batch moves fast. If your Class 11 mechanics and calculus are weak, it will be hard to keep up. We tell you this before you enrol.

Hindi medium

JEE Main is set in Hindi, and our study material is in Hindi too. A Hindi medium student can prepare fully for it. What matters most is how many hard problems you have tried yourself.

JEE questions

Questions Students Ask About JEE Coaching

What is the difference between the two-year and one-year batch?

The two-year batch starts in Class 11. It covers the syllabus slowly enough to go deep, and leaves a full year for revision and tests. The one-year batch is for Class 12 students and droppers. It covers the same syllabus much faster, so your Class 11 basics should already be fairly strong. If they are weak, we tell you before you enrol.

Can a Hindi medium student prepare for JEE?

Yes. JEE Main is held in 13 languages, and Hindi is one of them. JEE Advanced is held in English and Hindi. We run Hindi medium batches with Hindi study material. We also teach the English technical words, because most engineering colleges teach in English.

How many tests will a student take in the course?

There is a topic test every week and a part-syllabus test when each section is finished. A full test series runs in the last months. Every full paper comes back with your rank in the batch, so you can see where you stand.

How many times can a student sit JEE Main and JEE Advanced?

JEE Main has two sessions each year, and the better of your two scores is used. The 2026 exam was open to students who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025, or were appearing in 2026. For JEE Advanced 2026, a student had to be among the top 2,50,000 in JEE Main Paper 1. A student can sit JEE Advanced at most two times, in two years in a row. These rules are set every year, so check jeemain.nta.nic.in and jeeadv.ac.in.

Where is Knox Learning Academy located?

We are in Bettiah, West Champaran, Bihar. Students come to our classes from Bettiah, Narkatiaganj, Bagaha, Ramnagar, Chanpatia and nearby parts of West Champaran. Call 92881 10034 for directions or to book a campus visit.

Do you teach in Hindi or English?

It depends on the programme. Class 6 to 10 and CBSE Class 11 and 12 are taught in English. Bihar Board I.Sc. (Class 11 and 12) has a Hindi medium batch and an English medium batch. The entrance and government-exam batches run as the page for each one says. You get study material in the medium you enrol in.

Is there a scholarship or fee concession available?

Yes. Any applicant can sit our scholarship test. It gives fee waivers on merit. We also give concessions to siblings and to students from economically weaker families. Talk to the admissions desk about your case.

Can I attend a demo class before enrolling?

Yes. You can book a free demo class for any programme. You sit in a normal class with the batch you would join. Call 92881 10034 to reserve a seat.
