Our method

Four rules for every batch

Our teaching method is short. It has four rules, and each one can be said in a line.

Teach the concept before the formula. Give more class time to solving than to listening. Test every week and find out why marks were lost. Send parents a report every month. We apply these rules to every batch.

Rules 1 to 3

Inside a Knox classroom

These are simple ideas. The hard part is to keep doing them every week of a long session.

01

Concept before formula

Every topic starts with a physical example or a demonstration. The formula comes after the student has understood the idea. A student who knows why pressure rises when area falls will remember the formula in the exam.

02

More solving than listening

About two-thirds of class time goes to students solving problems. The teacher walks around the room and corrects the method on the spot. Students learn more by solving than by watching a solution.

03

Test weekly, then find the cause

We sort every lost mark into one of four causes: concept, calculation, misreading or time. Each cause needs a different fix. Knowing the cause helps more than knowing the total score.

Rule 4

What we do when a student starts slipping

After a poor test, these steps follow. They are the same for every batch.

1
Week 1

It shows in the weekly test

A weekly test shows a gap within one week. A monthly test could miss it for four weeks. The teacher sees the gap while marking the paper.

2
Week 1–2

Doubt sessions on the weak topics

The student gets extra hours on the topics the test showed, at the student’s own level. The whole chapter is not repeated.

3
If it does not recover

We call you

We do not wait for the monthly report. A problem found in week three can usually be fixed within the session. In month six it is much harder.

4
Every month

The written report goes home

It has attendance, test scores and the topics that still need work. Poor marks are included, so you can act early.

Aims

What this method works towards

  • Students who can answer an unfamiliar question on a topic they have studied
  • Quick and accurate problem solving, from a lot of corrected practice
  • Weak topics named and revised until they are cleared
  • Parents who know where the student stands through the year

FAQ

Questions about how we teach

What happens if a student falls behind mid-session?

It shows in the weekly tests. The teacher notes it, and the student gets doubt sessions on the weak topics. If the marks still do not improve, we call the parents. We do not wait for the monthly report.

How do you handle students at very different levels in one batch?

In two ways. At admission we place each student in a suitable batch. In class, the practice sets have different levels for the same chapter. If a student is clearly in the wrong batch, we move the student.

Where is Knox Learning Academy located?

We are in Bettiah, West Champaran, Bihar. Students come to our classes from Bettiah, Narkatiaganj, Bagaha, Ramnagar, Chanpatia and nearby parts of West Champaran. Call 92881 10034 for directions or to book a campus visit.

Do you teach in Hindi or English?

It depends on the programme. Class 6 to 10 and CBSE Class 11 and 12 are taught in English. Bihar Board I.Sc. (Class 11 and 12) has a Hindi medium batch and an English medium batch. The entrance and government-exam batches run as the page for each one says. You get study material in the medium you enrol in.

Is there a scholarship or fee concession available?

Yes. Any applicant can sit our scholarship test. It gives fee waivers on merit. We also give concessions to siblings and to students from economically weaker families. Talk to the admissions desk about your case.

Can I attend a demo class before enrolling?

Yes. You can book a free demo class for any programme. You sit in a normal class with the batch you would join. Call 92881 10034 to reserve a seat.
